Job Summary:
The Ultrasound Technician is responsible for providing the patient with the proper procedure and excellent quality images to assist the physician in the clinical screening of the patient’s condition or health complaint. The Ultrasound Technician will perform and record all sonographic procedures as specified by the department protocols.
Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of the ultrasound technician will include:
- Provide a variety of sonographic examinations to a patient population that ranges from adult to geriatric.
- Working with the population for transvaginal and transabdominal ultrasounds specficially
- Perform all associated administrative duties to include: advanced computer knowledge, proficient in all documentation, and record maintenance to ensure accuracy and patient confidentiality, HIPAA, and JC requirements.
- Work independently and be able to recognize situations or abnormalities that require the radiologist’s immediate attention or direct observation in real-time.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the general scope of those normally performed by a registered ultrasound technician.
Requirements:
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (issued by ARDMS – RDMS) or CCI
• Knowledge and skill performing ultrasound scanning techniques
• Knowledge of ultrasound physical principles and instrumentation
• Knowledge of Quality Control related to image quality, processor, and equipment Preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Must be able to work independently as a self starter, require minimal direction and supervision, be accountable, and make good judgement decisions
- The candidate must also know when to seek guidance, direction, and assistance when needed
- Must be professional, credible, highly organized, and have a commitment to high standards
- Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, as well as articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences
- Must have the ability to develop excellent working relationships with clients and staff
- Must be able to meet established deadlines
- The candidate must be able to meet the physical requirements of walking, standing, sitting, etc. visual acuity, speaking and understanding.
- Abdomen, vascular and breast ultrasound.
- Ultrasonography experience within the last 3 year.
No weekends / No call
