Dr. Pierce received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1960 from the University of Idaho. He then completed medical school at the University of Chicago, graduating in 1964. Dr. Pierce completed his Internship at U.S.P.H.S. Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts from 1964-1965. He then performed his Residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Chicago from 1965-1967. He also completed Residency at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland from 1967-1969. Dr. Pierce was the President of the Medical Staff for St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford, Illinois in 1984. He was then Chief of Staff of St. Anthony’s from 1985-1988. Dr. Pierce has been a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners in 1965, a Diplomat of the American Board of Radiology in 1969, legislative Editor of the Northern IL Medical Journal from 1971-1973, a clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Rockford School of Medicine from 1971-present, and a Diplomat of the American Board of Nuclear Medicine in 1975. Dr. Pierce has been published in various journals and co-wrote a book on the Anatomy of the Newborn Skull.
